I liked the Mindful Practice for 30 days.  It is the first "challenge" for yoga that I've rode to the end.  I'm thinking of going back and doing the 30 Day Yoga for Tight Hips challenge that Candace put out there earlier this year.  I started it and then got distracted by.....oh, who knows.  Tight hips are the bain of my existence.  They interfere with moving without pain sometimes, with my running, with sitting comfortably, and it just drives me nuts that I haven't been able to ease things.  I wonder sometimes if I really am holding stress in my hips.  When things get stressful in my life, it seems like everything, but especially my hips, are tighter.  

So, that's my next jam.

What kind of motions do you do when you feel pain in your hips, and where do you feel it?  I've lately wondered if people use hips and hip flexors interchangeably.  I never believed the idea that "we hold stress in our hips" because my outward flexion hip motion has always been very easy to do (e.g. cobbler's pose and double lotus), and I am still a very stressed out person! 

But, I just discovered that this "lower ab" pain of mine that I thought I had is actually my psoas.  It makes sense since I sit so much at work, and I'm having lower back pain on the opposite side.  Anyway, how about also adding low lunges, boat, and bow pose?  Now I do believe my psoas could have been contracted this whole time and is only exhibiting pain now, after reading this (source: http://www.yogajournal.com/article/practice-section/the-psoas-is/):

Along with improving your structural stability, developing awareness of your psoas can bring to light fears long locked in the body as unconscious physical tension. Intimately involved in the fight or flight response, the psoas can curl you into a protective fetal ball or flex you to prepare the powerful back and leg muscles to spring into action. Because the psoas is so intimately involved in such basic physical and emotional reactions, a chronically tightened psoas continually signals your body that you’re in danger, eventually exhausting the adrenal glands and depleting the immune system. 

Not sure if this pertains to you, but, I find it easier to research after identifying the specific muscles. I will also check out the 30 day tight hips program, too, and see if it helps me! I thought I didn't need it before, but, I was wrong!
