    Hi Candace,

first of all I want to tell you how much I like your blog. I discovered it beginning of 2015 and ever since, I enjoy your postings and challenges.
I practiced Yoga for 10 years - more or less regularly. During my two pregnancies, I hardly did any practice. Last year I discovered a Flyer from a yoga School to become a teacher, and I somehow knew, this is the way I want to go.
Some time ago, we did a Partner excersice in the teacher Training, which was about handstands. First we did this L-Handstand alone on the wall, and I really found it hard to straighten my legs there. Then we had a Partner supporting us, while we tried to go into full Handstand. It was very hard for me, though someone was Holding my leg and supported me. I do not know if it is lack of arm or core strength or why I was not able to do this exercise the way it "should" have been.
I also discovered that it is hard for me to do any armbalance. I really practiced a lot to do crow pose, but I cannot hold that asana for more than 2 breaths, if at all.
Further, I really do not think I will ever do headstand, it just does not feel right for me.

I know, it is all a Progress, but do you have any tip for me how to Train those things? I am currently doing your strength challenge, however it is quite hard to practice every day (with two Kids 1,5 and 3 years, a half time Job, a husband, household and the teacher Training, time is rare currently) - but I try to practice at least 4 days a week. Anything you could advice me to work on? Do I Need to build up more arm strength or is it really my core I have to work on?

    Looking Forward for your answer!
    Bettina

I also wanted to pass on to you all that I found the most amazing tea brand. It's called Eilles and it is FANtastic. I mean, so so so good. Anyone tried?

Does anyone drink apple cider vinegar in hot water? I'm trying it as a digestive aid....

Congrats on a new, exciting relationship!! I would maybe start to set certain days aside where you can make time for yourself - maybe you don't need to practice yoga or go to the gym every single day, but maybe three times a week would work for you? From there, just make a commitment to yourself and to him to be sure to get quality sleep the night before so you will have the energy to get up and get your workout or yoga practice in. When we take care of ourselves, we make far better partners Keep us posted!

    Hi everyone!
I just started dating someone and it's going really well, like seeing him every day well....the problem is since I started seeing him I'm getting like 4-5 hours of sleep as opposed to the 8 I'm used to. Because of that I haven't been able to wake up and go to the gym before work. My yoga post-work home practice is also suffering because when I get home I need get ready to go out.
    Advice?
(I am very much aware and grateful that this is a happy predicament to be in.)

I am not an expert by any means but I think meditation is like anything else you do for your health - there is no right or wrong. You have to do what works for you. If it stresses you out, don't do it. Meditation is meant to help you in being mindful and staying in the moment when done as a daily practice so if it calms your mind that is the right way for you. If you are trying a new technique doing it a few times should show you if it is right for you or not. One thing mentioned in the original post was changing techniques during a meditation and that I don't think would be very effective. You can do different types throughout your day or week. I quite often will do 4 or 5 meditations in a day and each one will be different depending on what I want or need from it.

I'm a big fan of New Rules of Lifting for Women (ignore the silly name, lol). You can buy it as a Kindle book, I think (or a real book), but the first couple of workouts are online if you want to try them out. It gradually builds up from simple moves to harder/more compound movements. I really like the program!

I do a program called RIP - Repetition, Intensity, Performance
It includes squats, lunges, chest press, back and shoulders and then biceps, triceps and abs.
    It's 3 days a week and fabulous!

    Hi everyone!
I'm working on building my strength (aside for yoga), any recommendations for weight lifting?

Finding your voice and getting feedback from others. For me it was the part part I liked the less but helped me the most. You prepare your practice and do your best and what you get from the feedback are things like: too fast, too slow, too many adjustments, very few, you were boring, you were awesome...... I got these  from the pratices during my teaching training mainly and it's true that when you are giving "real" classes things are different and people, normally, are super nice. But the bad feedback and the constant practice were what helped me the most to find my voice and to gain confidence.

I am currently in a 200 hr YTT and feeling a bit overwhelmed so thanks for this thread - its quite helpful to know that everything we are learning doesn't have to be incorporated into a class. Thanks!

Thank you for posting this. It helped me a lot, especially all about studying, taking as many classes as you can from different teachers, goign to workshops, working hard in preparing the classes.........and the part to say yes to everything. I'm in this part now and sometimes it's quite hard ...... but the reward and the energy you get from the people after the class makes totally worth the effort. Aside from the fact that in the end is all about the practice, practice, practice and the interaction with other people and the more opportunities you have the better (or at least is what I repeat to myself when I got a call for a last minute sub.....)

One of the most important things for me is working in finding your voice and your rithym for the class. Getting to know your natural voice might be quite a challenge at the beginning.

I try to soak up every bit of info I can from my on line video subscription and here on yogabycandace since my YTT is on line. I read and study a lot about poses, alignment, sequencing. I'm about half way through and I realize it will take me a little while to complete due to $. What I'm worried about is how I will compare to other teachers since I have been to very little studio classes. I will make more of an effort to attend some but I will have to drive to another town since we only have one instructor here. I know I shouldn't compare myself to others and be my own person but I know others will compare and I don't want to disappoint! I'm having trouble finding my voice and feeling confident speaking. (I practice by myself) I'm hoping reading this thread on yoga teachers will give me some insight and lead me in the right direction so please keep up the conversation! Is it ok to ask the class to keep phone silent or to leave the room to answer a call? What about setting some expectations as far as keeping it quiet during savasana or respecting others space? I want  people to have fun and don't want to be the strict rule making teacher but would it be wrong to ask these things?

Best of luck on the journey you are about to embark upon!
Nuts, dried fruits, green juice and Lara bars got me through the long days of my teacher training.
Get lots of rest and try to schedule yourself lighter on the days you are not in training.

I don't have any tips, but I just wanted to say good luck in your training.

    Hi Everyone!
I start my yoga teacher training this upcoming Sunday. Our program is split up between Sundays and Wednesdays and spread over 6 months. I'm most nervous about getting through 14 hour days of yoga and training. Any insights on making it through long, intense days? Tips for training in general or ideas for meals and snacks for those long days? Thanks!
