What is your business venture? does it inspire you? The reason I'm asking is because with my own business, it's something I have a strong personal interest in and I have a hard time not working on it, and pushing everything else aside.
I'm someone who is very bad at multitasking, largely because I'm only really able to mentally conceptualise one thing at any given time. Also I get distracted *really* easily, and when that happens I basically forget everything about the previous task and go off on a tangent. Basically the previous working memory ceases to exist.
Because of these things I find changes in physical location, with task relevant stuff in clear sight to be useful. If I can't see something, and it's not a 'habit', it doesn’t exist to me.
I also find it essential to totally eliminate detractions if I am to get anything done at all. My workshop is deliberately offline, and I do not have a smart phone because of this. I don't personally understand how the modern world works at all with so many distractions.

I'm thinking about possibly doing a DIY mala. I already made a meditation bracelet for myself and it was even meditative to create. Any thoughts or methods of doing this? Do you guys know of any good brands or places I should look for the beads?

Well, I skipped Day 2 and Day 3 of the program, but jumped back in yesterday for Day 4 and my first ever HIIT workout. I gotta say, I love it and hate it. Lol
I love that it was so quick, and kept it interesting. I only did 3 reps, though, so 15 min instead of 20. My whole body was like jello afterwards and I'm already feeling the after effects in my arms and shoulders. It feels good! I know that today is a rest day, but I think I will probably go back and do either Day 2 or Day 3 tonight, since I got a rest day on Sunday.
I'm even going to try to get my husband to do the HIIT workouts with me, since I haven't been able to convert him into a yogi yet.
I can already tell this program is going to help my goal pose - handstand. Yahoo!

I did the first day yesterday because I can't read apparently  BUT I am so in !! I needed this because I felt like my yoga and my workouts have been hitting a plateau.  If anyone needs an accountability partner let me know !

http://yogabycandace.com/blog/2014/9/4/confessions-of-a-yoga-teacher-im-bad I love this post! And I love your red lipstick Candace! You rock it!

I'm really bad, like super super bad.
    I love meat
hate flowery yoga talk (once I was in a class w/ a sub and there were 3 college aged guys in the class. The 60 year old teacher at one point said something like "lift your ankle towards your uterus" I immediately lost focus, looked at the guys and actually snorted out loud at the look on their faces.)
I like normal music - chanting makes me nervous. My teacher has some Indian rap songs and I love them, even though in my head I make the words sound English w/ weird made up lyrics.
I hate meditation - I do fall asleep and wake up startled when I start to snore.
Whenever I go into a place that has a budda statue I want to dress it - put on a fun hat, sunglasses, fake mustache...
I totally notice all the cute yoga outfits and have to find out where they were bought
When someone falls during class - I laugh as soon as I know they are ok...

What makes you a bad Yogi

For all the time and energy you've provided to help others, on this Thanksgiving I want to express my most sincere gratitude and appreciation.
I'm proudly celebrating my first year of daily practice (I think I've missed a total of five days, including a few snow days spent shoveling and snow blowing, since starting). Aside from the warms ups, stretches, forward folds, planks and downward dogs (you'll note I did not include ommm-ing ...LOL), part of my routine is viewing the daily inspiration from Candace either here or through the various social media outlets. Seeing scorpion, head stands  or some other intense routine, is a welcome (and powerfully motivating) relief from the non stop photos of salad, martini glasses or chocolate desserts that clog my Instagram feed.
Thank you for being a vital component of my fitness and well being routine.
Enjoy your holiday and every other day...knowing that you are making a difference in and enhancing the life of others

Now, I'm not sure if this is a life changing book, but it's a book that has changed the way I think. Freakonomics (the movie is great too, but there's more in the book). It's a very basic intro to Game Theory which is a branch of economics and I'm a total geek. I find that whenever I pick it up it reminds me to think a different way - I recommend it to everyone

    Hi Yogis,
I wanted to let everyone know that within the next 8 business days the forum will be getting a big software update. During this software update, we will lose our custom look and there will be some small changes to the layout. Please be patient with us during this transition as it will take us some time to rebuild the YBC look and feel.
This update will have a much more modern and clean look. I have been told it will be a little more user friendly as well. We look forward to bringing you a better product soon. Thanks for your patiences.

To be honest, my go to for different workouts is pinterest, because they will have basic website posts, blog posts, tips, and youtube videos.

I like following crossfit gyms or people on instagram who post their daily workouts. I usually will just do something similar to that if I'm out of ideas. @wodcrossfit hasn't posted in many weeks but the entire account has a bunch of workouts. @crossfita1a also posts their workouts all the time.

YES! I love MMA, I wish there was an affordable kickboxing studio around where I live, I used to do a class whenever I would go visit my sister and it was the best workout.

I'll have to look into a kettlebell, I'm not very familiar with it so thanks for the idea !

Where do you get your inspiration for new workouts and sequences? I usually do some warm up, a little toning and abs,  and then some yoga after a run if it's not too hot. But recently i'm kinda at a stand still and haven't been feeling as sore as I usually do (best feeling ever)

So what kinds of things do you do?!
  14. fshliz09 liked a post in a topic by Jake in New Workout Inspiration
I've recently got more into kettle bell workouts from following Onnit Academy - they post really good stuff.

Another source of inspiration is watching MMA. Those are the most athletic people in the world, so seeing what they can do and what is possible to accomplish as a human is really inspiring to me.

    Bumping this oldie back up.

I'm in the process of rekindling my relationship with my mat.
I fell off my practice when I went back to working in an office almost three years ago.
I had an on/off thing with it until last year, when I fell completely off.
Other hobbies, life. .. whatever... we broke up.

Fast forward to the start of this year, viral pneumonia kicked my tail, subsequent infections left me wasted, weak and in bad shape.

I'm lucky, I work in a medical office, one of my nurses is also a yoga instructor. She encouraged me to come to class and just roll out my mat and be present.
I did... I struggled through 15 minutes of our 1 hour class, laid in Savasana and let the tears run down my temples.
I went back the next week and did the same.
I found myself mourning my old practice, the one that I had left and was angry with my current body (medication weight, stress related hair loss.. etc)
Each time, my active participation in class grew and my tears lessened.
It's been 3 months,I make it through a whole class now and I have just started to rekindle home practice, now that I feel more confident and capable.

I'm still a long way off, but I realize that it really is a commitment and more like a relationship than an exercise routine.
My mat is really only a tangible represtation of myself.
I'm on the right path physically, emotionally and spiritually.

So, I'm making a goal of getting out my mat daily, even if it only means Savasana for a little while.

I'm not a vegan, but I've been a vegetarian for 8 years. I believe I could be a full vegan if I wanted to, but I don't see the point in limiting myself. I eat eggs and fish (infrequently, but still). Eggs are an important staple to my diet, I eat them for protein, and they make for a quick and easy meal whenever I need them. Sometimes, I just I really want sushi, I think depriving myself of that or anything that you really want creates a bad relationship with food. So for me, I make sure I eat healthful and wholesome as often as I can, but if I'm craving chocolate I'll eat it.

Okay, in all honesty chocolate is the only reason I don't commit to the vegan

Anyway! I actually just read about this hybrid diet of a paleo and vegan diet called pegan. I am currently reading the book and it seems pretty manageable to me. It has great options if you're already a vegan, but it also doesn't seem that restricting to a person who is a meat eater. I hope you find the right plan that works for you!

I love my Jade Harmony Mat! The only thing is I wish I had got one of the bright colors because whenever my dog walks on it her hair is everywhere and I feel like you'd be able to see it less on a brighter mat...but that's honestly the only complaint I have

Oh! Happy belated birthday I'd love to know what you think of the professional! Is it thicker than the Harmony ? I was worried that my harmony mat wouldn't provide enough cushioning on my knees but I've been quite comfortable with it!

That's it, you're all getting crickets next time!!!
First of all, thank you for the awesome video - it was so much fun to watch and I'm so glad you liked everything. Plus your make up ROCKS. The salve is great for extra dry skin. It's got essential oils in it so it's really healing and just all around awesome. Feel free to ask more from the girl who makes it: @kingandbride on insta - she's pretty awesome about getting right back to people!!

I may take you up on that offer! Thank you!!!!

I got mine and filmed this little unboxing video for my YouTube Channel, I love watching unboxing videos of beauty boxes, healthy living and things like that so I though why not share what I got?!? let me know what you think!

I love everything in the box...the emmy's macaroons didn't even make it to the end of filming the video hahaha they are SO good!

I think I've tried everything in the box except for the salve...can someone tell me what I should use it for?? I am so not fancy enough hahaha.

I used the soulful essence mat cleaner after my yoga in the park session and I like it a lot! I also though it was so sweet that the company took the time to post on my instagram saying that they hope I enjoy the mat cleaner, such a good feeling and that is a great quality for a company to have!!

Candace - If you do decide to make it open for the masses and everyone I'm local and would be happy to help, that way I can make sure there are no crickets in mine

While I'm far from an expert, the best thing that can be said about yoga is you don't have to worry about repitition...
...every ten seconds you're working on a different muscle or joint. As far as 'muscle confusion' is concerned, your muscles will be confused.

As far as becoming more flexible, yes, you can become more flexible with continued training. In November I could barely touch my knees...and now I can touch my shins!!! (j/k)
    Yes, flexibility can be improved.
