You might want to look into this book called The Micronutrient Miracle. It's marketed as this diet, but if you ignore all that stuff, the actual info in there is extremely enlightening. There are a couple of quizzes you can take to see where you are deficient (perhaps this is what's causing the lack of energy), and then it talks about how various things we eat that we think are healthy (raw spinach, for example), can actually be quite detrimental to our health, and causing micronutrient deficiencies. It's a really eye-opening book, and while it has a lot of scientific explanations for the hows/whys, it is easy to read and comprehend if you're not that science-minded. Highly recommend.

Thank you! I'm exhausted all the time and this week I only hit my macros percentages twice but with my workouts I've yet to hit my calories. I'm going to try the smaller meals more frequently. I just left a derby practice a bit bummed because I didn't have the energy to do what I felt like I should be doing. Here's to a new day! <3

I went through something similar. I essentially had to FORCE myself to eat in order to hit my macro numbers. I was under-eating, given the amount of energy I was expending, and even though I wasn't hungry, I knew I had to do a better job of fueling myself because I was exhausted, not recovering well, not sleeping well, and my hormones were thrown off. When I got my macro numbers and started trying to hit them, I realized just how much I had been under-eating. There was a period of time (3 weeks or so?) that was an adjustment to get myself to a point where my body started to be hungry again and actually get used to all the food, but it was a struggle not only in having an appetite, but also having the energy to constantly be making food and eating it haha. My suggestion would be to try to eat small meals more frequently and see if that helps over time.

Around the same time I started increasing my workout loads I started losing my appetite. I've been tracking my workouts/nutrition and I've been partially waiting until I'm hungry and partly forcing myself to eat something. I understand it's important to have the fuel there to operate especially with adding heavier workouts into the mix, but it's been difficult getting enough food because of the lack of appetite.
Otherwise I'm healthy---everything else has been normal. I have seen a lack of energy that I'm also attributing to not eating enough.
    Has anyone else experienced this?

Do whatever you need to do to feel good. If you have the urge to add more cardio, do it! If you feel like you need a break on a day where a hiit workout is scheduled, take that break. The highest form of yoga is tuning in to what you really need, and honoring that.

Day 5 was challenging but beautifully so. In meditation "self-care" really struck me. It's something I've been practicing in other areas but mentally has been a challenge. So today during the routine I kept focused on self-care and allowing myself room to do what I needed to do when something came up.
    Feeling positive.

It's never too late to join in, Kathleen.  You can start from day one or pickup on day 5 where we are.

Thank you for your encouragement, Candace. I can't seem to hear this advice enough. One day I'm sure it'll break through and take root.

Please don't be disappointed! Please celebrate the fact that you gave it a shot. Celebrate the fact that you pressed play and tried. Celebrate that you got through however many seconds or minutes you got through. Celebrate the baby steps. There is no rule that says you have to be able to do x, y or z on the first attempt. Look at a toddler as he/she begins to walk. They fall. They fall some more. They keep falling. And they always get back up. When it comes to certain things - I'm a toddler learning to walk. My snatch lift? It's not very good. I get frustrated and down on myself about it. But then I think: I tried. And that counts for something. Same goes for you. You calling it quits doesn't mean anything except that you just practiced the highest form of yoga - you gave it a shot, did your best, and then decided you needed a break. Who. CARES. Sorry for the caps lock, but truly - let it go. Reboot and get back on the horse when you're ready and attack what you can do with a hell yeah attitude, and let whatever you can do be enough, but truly - it is.

Day two of the Yoga Fit challenge and I've found myself down and out. Super disappointed at my HIIT performance and how quickly I called it quits. I've been working out more regularly over the past months but just started getting into cardio...because cardio is torture. :'( But my goals definitely include getting stronger at cardio work. Anyway, having a tough time being kind to myself after today's attempt.

I'll reboot and get back at it tomorrow.

In anticipation of this weekend's workshop I went to look at my receipt to make sure I had the times down correctly and I found that I never received a receipt from purchasing the ticket. I have it in my bank account records but just wanted to double check that is alright and that I wouldn't have troubles getting in this weekend.
Also was unsure of how to contact about the issue so I'm hoping it was okay to start here.

    Day two complete!
I'd love to help. I've never done the accountability thing so I don't know what works best but I will be doing my best to post here daily after I've done the scheduled practice.  ?
    Cheers!

My first day photos. It's already so helpful to see the photos and pinpoint what parts of the pose needs working on. <3

Having empathy is great, but when you start internalizing what others are feeling - you don't need that.  I'm similar too, but probably for different reasons. Usually if I'm sensitive to someone else's emotions, it's because I am worried how they are feeling and then take it upon myself to help them.
I am learning not read into people's negative emotions and understand it isn't necessarily about me.  I to remind myself to not take it personally (it's not about me) and therefore not worry about it.  Then it's easier not to take responsibility in trying to understand that person and just let them be.
It's very hard.. are you like this with everyone or just people you extremely care about? I'm working on this with my husband for instance - it's great like you said, we can easily influence each other's happiness, but if one of us is down from something external like work, it's hard for the other person not to be sensitive to it and feel down by it.

    Hi y'all!
I'm looking for some advice from someone who's hopefully similar to me.
I feel really deeply. I sense others emotions/intentions before I even notice it. I've always been quite sensitive to vibes (for lack of a better explanation.) It wasn't until I met a former coworker who was the same for me to realize it and since I've been trying to pay extra care to what I'm allowing to affect me.
I'm seeking tips to avoid letting others' emotions control me. I seem to always take what another person is feeling and intensify it. Which is great when I'm around happiness but draining when it's frustration, anger, or depression..
I'm really hoping there's others that understand this and have been successful at controlling it.

    Cheers ?

Yes, great idea! Look for it towards the end of Feb or beginning of March

I just reread your post.. I didn't realize you were talking about yin yoga at first.
I think since yin yoga holds each pose for 3-5 minutes, it's hard to have a video that is less than half an hour.  If you want a more gentle sequence, look at the video suggestions Candace put up for the February restorative program, such as:
30 min restorative yin yoga (hope that isn't too long): http://yogabycandace.com/blog/full-restorative-free-yoga-class
15 Minute Chill Out Restorative Yoga Video
    15 minute gentle morning yoga

If you want to address your husband's shoulder, maybe one addressing tight shoulders would make him feel relieved, such as this:
20 Minute Yoga for Olympic Lifters | Chest and Shoulder Mobility
But if you want something that doesn't involve any downward dogs, then look into shorter restorative ones instead of yin.  Good luck!

I was in a class tonight and the teacher had us really focusing on our hips. In one pose I felt my upper thigh tremble and felt a rush of emotions flood my body. I pulled back out to go into child's pose to rest and compose myself. I felt overwhelmed with emotion the rest of the class and still haven't been able to shake it.
Has anyone else felt this before? How do you recover?
I normally leave my mat feeling light and joyful. Tonight I feel heartbroken.

Wow, that's tough feeling overwhelmed. Hopefully you'll feel lighter after letting them surface. It might help to cry it out if you feel it - that can provide a psychological release. For me, my eyes tear up when I feel any emotional intensity, but after I shed tears, it feels better. Otherwise, I would remain overwhelmed trying to keep my tears contained inside.
I also read that hip openers tend to release emotions because when we're stressed, our hip flexors are tensed up as a "flight" response to easily sprint away.
I found this article helpful - I haven't had as an intense emotional release experience, so I read this to better understand: http://www.yogajournal.com/article/practice-section/emotions-in-motion/
Lastly, some people talked about this previously in the thread below, but some of the experiences seem slightly less intense than a complete emotional release.

Aww @mrsjoe24 and @yogafire Your comments made me blush  It is true that is kind of a form of visualization, or rather feeling the energetic signature of each pose. I find it helps in yoga too to try and feel each pose- an ongoing communication! Very magical. I never know what to aspect from the drawing though. It's always surprising to see what turns up, so an ongoing discovery for me!
