  1. I am focusing on getting in at least a little yoga each day this month, with the minimum being 11 sun salutations. I did my 11 SS this morning and then was fortunate enough to teach some yoga to my high schoolers today (they have been asking to learn and the schedule worked out where I could). I also had an appointment with my trainer at the gym tonight, but she had to cancel, so I think I may head to a yoga class instead.
  2. This isn't very technical, but I do find a lot of information on Pinterest. I just plug something into the search engine, if I am looking up poses for anxiety, tight hips, etc.
  3. I don't know if I would consider myself an experienced meditator, I try to meditate pretty regularly, but I have noticed more of a sensitivity to "energy." I have noticed when I clear all the gunk out of my mind, it's easier for me to pick up on a lot more of the energy around me. I am much more sensitive and can pick up on other people's feelings, emotions and thoughts more clearly.
  4. I have been vegetarian for 8 years and vegan for 2. I am vegan for ethical reasons and personal beliefs that line up with my own personal interpretation of ahimsa. However, I believe this is an extremely personal decision that everyone should examine and define for themselves. In my own interpretation of ahimsa, I feel that it is violent to judge or condemn anyone else's food choices and what they mean in relation to their own personal yogic journey.
  5. I like anything by Zohar, Niyaz, Circa Paleo or Cheb i Sabbah.
  6. I am prone to blackheads around my nose. I do a facial mask once per week that really helps. I use about 1 teaspoon of red clay, 1 teaspoon of water and a few drops of essential oil (either lavender or tea tree, depending what's going on with my skin).
  7. I am a high school counselor, so I sit most of the day. I am in a classroom one period of the day, which is nice because it keeps me from sitting ALL day. If I am not mindful of my posture, my lower back and hips hurt, which are my problem spots, anyway. I do some sort of chest opener almost daily as soon as I get home, to counteract the hunching over a computer and driving.
  8. Congrats!
  9. I just finished Edge of Eternity this morning. Loved it!
  10. These are all really good tips. I think what has helped me in my practice is to remember not to judge it too harshly. I used to worry too much that I didn't "do it right" or "meditate for real" on a given day. As long as you are making time for it that day, you are doing something good for your heart, body and mind.
  11. That does sound interesting. I am also an emotional eater and huge Deepak Chopra fan.
  12. Agreed!
  13. I loathe pigeon and lizard, but know I need them. I feel like I could do without boat pose and standing split!
  14. Chair pose is one of my favorites! I feel strong in it. I also love Goddess pose....oh, and all the restorative poses
  15. I have two American bulldogs named Suzie and Penny. They are outdoor dogs and once when I tried meditating outside they thought differently....that was the last time I tried that.
