Do a search for Metta prayers. I fell in loving with meditating after reading Lovingkindness. There are a lot of mantras and prayers suggestions in that book. I also got myself some mala prayer beads to use and I love them!!

    Great topic!!!

I've got a cold so breathing is not coming easy for me. I did yogabycandace's 30 min restorative. It was perfect!

I'm really curious what other yogis favorite poses are.

I'll go first, my very favorite is pigeon pose! I have always loved it and the the poses that follow like mermaid. I'm enjoying working my way to king pigeon. Dolphin is another favorite! Last but not least tripod because it's fun and a big goal of mine is to achieve a solid headstand, tripod and dolphin are getting me there!

So what are some of your favorite poses?

OMG! My boyfriend is the same way! Haha! He does his yoga secretly with an app. He had back surgery about 5 years ago and use to have serious mobility issues. One day I came home unexpectedly and caught him doing yoga guided by his phone. Lol. However he's gotta do it. His mobility now is crazy compared to how limited he was before.

I could not agree more!! I too have been working on supported headstand and have been getting really excited as I get closer to getting my legs up and straight. I am nowhere close to mastering it but my excitment keeps me driven!

I too made a commitment to myslef to practice everyday. I started by focusing on building the habit of making a little time (15-20 mins/day) every day to practicing. My goal now is an hour/day which includes meditation but if I can only squeeze in 30 min, I don't beat myself up for it. I am grateful that I accomplished making time for myself, however small it is. There are times that I have to convince myself to not be lazy but I never regret it. Who does? LOL

I don't have the money for classes. 3 kids to suppport there is not enough room in the budget for it. But there are a lot of tools and insirpation out there to help you practice at home. The yogabycandace videos have been my lifesaver!

I will have to check out that yoga tracker app for sure! I've always wanted to track my progress in some way. When I really dedicated myself to yoga it wasn't about making progress really it was more about finding a release from my depression and stress.

I am looking to start a meditation practice and I think that mala bead meditation will be good for me.  If I have something tangible to focus on, that also has a tangible end I think it will serve me better than just setting a timer and trying to meditate (if people even set timers?)

I found some mala beads that I am going to purchase on etsy.  What I am looking for is recommendations of mantras to use with the mala beads. I did some research online and didn't find much.  Maybe I am looking for the wrong thing.  Any suggestions?

    Thanks!

Time to maybe delve into a more meditative practice maybe? Yoga nidra, guided meditation, etc.
For more physical work you could work on headstands against the wall, shoulder stands, etc.
Injuries are tough to work through emotionally, but I really do feel like there's a lesson in everything. See if you can shift your focus and find the good in the situation maybe?  All the best to you, keep us updated xo

Don't worry about the balance! It's a good challenge to try regaining focus after falling out the first time, and it sounds like it was hard to recover while in class. It was a nice test to do it again at home and to find that you were able to be settled again.

I was told that the balance is a reflection of the current state of mind. Maybe you were excited or nervous in class around others, so it resulted in you feeling slightly wobbly? I also find it easier to balance by focusing on a single spot on the ground of opposite wall, and then you won't get distracted by others around you.  Have you focused on engaging your core during the poses too?

Regarding what I did today.. I'll report last night's class! We did about 30 minutes of stretching, using a strap around our foot for hamstrings and doing twists on our lower back lying down.  The rest of the hour we did sun salutations A and B and the first part of the standing sequence in the Primary Series. We also used the strap for shoulder opening exercises (raising the strap above the head and behind the back, and back over again while keeping the arms as straight as possible). I mention the stretches because it made my full wheel at the end of class feel solid when getting up. My arms are still not straight, but I felt I rose higher than other times.  The other interesting part was that we did a twisting low lunge quad stretch that felt a lot more intense than other variations in which the hips are squared off or not twisting.  I've forgotten how to do it before, so now I'm happy I did it again last night.

I've been experimenting making shower scrubs with epsom salt, coconut oil and essential oils - working on the scents but I love that you can scrub and moisturize your body at the same time, especially after a long day.

I'm a little late to the party, but I too was like "maybe I should put this on my face" and I LOVE it. My pillow smells like coconut too (I use it as a night cream/makeup remover) so that's an added bonus I haven't used it for much else other than skin and hair though.
