Emotional And Physical Benefits Of Each Asanas

6 posts in this topic

hi,

I'm looking for a book or internet resource (i can't find anything for now) about the benefits of each asana, like for example one which can be good for anxiety (panic attack lungs oppression), heartbreak (ball in the throat), anger (with liver releasing) etc, if you have any tips it would be nice, then i can adapt my (beginner) practise with my mood.

merci :)

This isn't very technical, but I do find a lot of information on Pinterest. I just plug something into the search engine, if I am looking up poses for anxiety, tight hips, etc.

I use the search 'yoga for...' And then put in something specific .

I've made whole sequences out of separate poses I've googled.

Pinterest had tons of stuff.

I use you tube a lot too.

This isn't a book, but I just found this resource on yoga journal that you can search by "benefit".  So there is some poses for physical aspects (e.g. neck pain) and emotional aspects (e.g. anxiety).

Honestly though, there are so many poses listed that I feel like any class will cover at least some of these poses for whatever ailment I have that day, but this might be a good way to focus practice at home.

You might also want to look into some yoga practices that emphasizes the emotional side of yoga, such as Kundalini Yoga, Yoga Nidra, Yin Yoga and Restorative Yoga. All these use different ways of creating an environment to help open and elicit the emotional or spiritual response in us.

Hope this helps.

Namaste
