How has your weight training changed your view of yoga?

Candace, how has the strength training you have been doing lately changed how you practice yoga? Has it changed your outlook around it? For instance have you shifted towards a gentler practice now you're getting your strength from other means? Or are you experimenting more with advanced postures?

Great question! I find myself incorporating more yin and hatha style yoga more consistently to balance out the tightness I feel from lifting weights. But the weight lifting has also improved my strength so much in such a short amount of time that I am more motivated than ever to continue to work on the more athletic postures as well. I usually will practice them at the end of a workout when I am very warm. What's interesting is that I find I can hold the more advanced poses with a more stable foundation after I've lifted weights vs in the middle of a power practice. Haven't figured out why that is yet. But yeah, overall the only thing that's really changed is that I don't go to my power yoga class as often as I used to just because I don't really have the energy and instead am practicing yin ....or just taking an epsom salt bath haha
